Kroger Cards

Kroger Card Fundraising

Thanks for purchasing a Kroger Fundraising Card.  Here is how it works:

A Kroger card is purchased from the Madison Band Parents Boosters for $5.  The card will have a $5.00 value.

The purchaser can “charge” the card at the Kroger service desk, up to $500.

10 to 15 minutes after the “charge”, the card may be used at the Kroger checkout to purchase items from Kroger.

Kroger tracks the amount each card is “charged”.  When the total charges of all the cards purchased by Band Member Supporters reach $5,000, the band gets a check for 4% of the $5,000, or $200.  After the first $5,000 plateau, a check is sent every time another $5,000 plateau is reached.

Kroger will send the Boosters a statement of each card number and the amount charged to that card.

Very Important

The card should be recharged at the Kroger service desk.  Upon recharging, the band will get the credit toward the next $5,000 plateau.  New cards do not have to be purchased for the band to get the credit.  The band gets credit when the card is recharged.

Fair Share Opportunity

Since the 2006/2007 school year, the amount charged on each card has been tracked and some of the profits applied to student’s future band fees.

Each card registration number is tracked by the Kroger Card Coordinator.

However, you must email or mail the card number, the student’s name who gets the credit and your contact information to the Coordinator.  The contact information is at the bottom of this page.

If the user of a Kroger card sends the Kroger Card Number (found on the back of the card); an active band student's name and current grade; and Card Purchaser/User Contact Information (Phone Number or Email to confirm receipt of the name and number); the Band Parent Association will apply the 4% of the re-charges to current and future band fees and trip fees for that student.

Those students in the Jr. High Band program will have their balance tracked.  When the student joins band in High School, that balance may be applied to their band fees.  A Junior High Student could collect enough funds to completely pay for their High School Band fees.

At different times during the year, statements will be sent home with the students summarizing their fair share accumulated to date.

Other Stuff

Due to tax implications, the Madison Band Boosters can not refund any moneys that the student and their family accumulate and do not use toward band fees.  Any moneys not used (due to students dropping out of band or raising more funds than needed for fees) will be applied toward the band general fund.

Families with more than one student in band may apply the moneys between their family members.

The percentage of Kroger fundraising moneys applied to the student’s future band fees may change in the future as Kroger or the Boosters change the program.

The program may be discontinued at any time by Kroger or the Band Boosters

This is a different program than the Scrip cards.  Scrip cards should NOT be recharged, but reordered.  The band gets the profit upon order of the initial Scrip card.
